Lost my USB drive

Hi all you computer geniuses...
I apologize if this has been covered already..
I have recently lost (like yesterday) my USB drive. Its not external. Its
usually designated as the G: drive, and now when I stick my usb pen drive
into it-its doesn't start nor can I find the drive anywhere. Also, I can
hear the "pings" when I insert the drive, it doesn't autoplay, and the icon
(my computer) is nowhere to be found.

So, I went to system restore and I got a message before I started, that
restore wouldn't fix drive G: because its been turned off or uninstalled--or
some such nonsense like that. I went thru some of the posts already, and
yes, I have had an Update from Microsoft recently, I did uninstall some CD
creator software last month, and my computer has just generally been acting
funny (dying?? 3 years old..) lately. Which means that I have done a restore
in the last couple of weeks (it seemed to help). My antivirus is "up to
date" when last checked 2 days ago (Yahoo!).

I haven't checked my pen drive yet--going to school right now to see if it
works in their 'puters.

Any info you could give would be fabulous!
Thanks Michele D.

Plug the drive back into any USB socket directly connected to the computer.
Not a hub or pci card. Use pci card if that's all you have.

Open computer management | disk management. Does the drive show up?

If not see if the drive shows up in another computer.

Do other USB devices work in your computer.
