I have a client computer running XP, connected wirelessly to the host via a
802.11b network adapter. In the last few days, this client computer has
been unable to see the host computer and vice versa. The client does not
respond to a ping command. The shared internet connection was still
operative, but the client computer is not visible in the "View Workgroup
computers" screen on either the host or the client. I have determined that
the client computer does not have an IP address. I did this by performing the
following: In Network Places, I attempted to view the status of the wireless
connection. I clicked on the Support Tab. The IP address, the Subnet Mask,
the Default Gateway and the Address TYpe and all were listed as
"unavailable".
I went into command prompt and typed "IPconfig" and got the following
message: "An internal error occurred. Insufficient system resources exist to
complete the requested service. Please contact Microsoft for additional help.
Additional information: Unknown media status code. "
I also have a problem whereby the wireless connection is constantly lost,
and must be renewed.
Can anyone shed any light here?

Have you recently updated to Windows SP2? That might be your issue with it.
If you did get SP2 see if your windows firewall is on. If so turn it off.
after you verify that go into the command prompt and type ipconfig
/release which releases the ip address then once you know nothing is there
type ipconfig /renew this renews the IP address. Have you tried giving
yourself a static IP address?
Hope this helps.
