Lost links

Not sure if i'm in the right area for this problem, if not please guide me.
My husband's work computer has lost the links to some files on his desktop.
When he selects the file to open he gets the message 'windows cannot find
C:\ducments and settings\users\desktop\filename [where filename is the name
of the file he is trying to open]. The files are price lists that my husband
needs for his work and they normally open in excel. If my husband opens excel
and clicks on the file name in the recent files list it will still open, the
problem here though is that there are 7 files that have this problem and only
4 show in the recent files list. I was wondering if anyone can help with this
problem please.

Let him Open them through the Recent List and Save then in My Documents and
see if he can open them.

This can happen if the files been damaged or the linker to them somehow
missing or the files been remove to another location and the computer
accessing them from the memory caches. So best if he saved them with
different names in different folder.
Does he trying to access them remotely?

HTH,
