Lost full date in systray

A long time ago I noticed that if the taskbar is raised to double or triple
height, then the full date is displayed in the systray clock. Somehow I
have lost this, now it displays only the time and day of the week, it no
longer shows the month and year. How to get it back?

If you can see dotted verticle line(s) on the taskbar , take the arrow
to the top of the bar until it changes into twoheaded , left click and
move the curser up until the bar *expands* . If you don`t see the
line(s) , right click and choose properties and uncheck * autohide the
taskbar * and then move the taskbar height.

That is only instructions on how to expand the systray and not how to get
the year and date back.

A long time ago? Was it Windows XP? I do not think XP ever had that option.
Instead, the year and date are displayed momentarily via a bubble when the
mouse pointer goes over the time. I do believe Windows 95 had that feature.

Yes, it was XP Home. I was not hallucinating!! It showed the time, day of
the week, month and year.

I don't know if this will help but try downloading this small program
http://www.kellys-korner-xp.com/taskbarplus!.htm
Open the zip file and run the app. Under the Notification area section
scroll down to Restore/Remove Clock. Don't check the box that will Hide the
clock just click the Apply button. See if that helps.

Francis is talking about what is displayed when you expand the height of the
taskbar from it's default size of one line to a greater height of two lines
or more. If the taskbar is pulled upward then the Date & Time will display
more information without the need to hover over it to get the pop up. Pull
the taskbar up to double size and you will see. It seems that Francis has
lost this feature and wants it restored.

It always did and still does. Try it for yourself--make the task bar
double-height.

Why he can no longer do it, I don't know.

Yes, but that's not "instead" of the above. You can do either or both.

I tried and the clock area only shows day (Monday) and time. It does not
show month, day and year.

How can we do either or both???????

If you hover you see the date. If you make the task bar double height,
you can see the date.

You can hover, you can make the task bar double height, or you can
both make the task line double-height and hover.

U

Nope! That does not fix it.

Finally got it. Must raise the task bar to triple height. Double height only
shows day and time. Triple will show day, date, year and time. I confess, I
never raised task bar to triple height before.

Yes, *triple* height. Sorry for saying double-height. And thanks
Harry, for correcting what I said.

LOL I doubt that the limbo would be a possibility for Ken and I without
raising the bar at least a few more feet (or meters as it were).
