Hi

For some reason now whenever I open a program, for example, Internet
Explorer the focus is not on the opened program and I have to manually click
on the window to get focus.

This seems to have happened in the last day - the only significant change
has been the application of the last two windows critical updates.

Any idea how to get the focus back onto newly opened programs?

Cheers
John

I rebooted and the problem went away. It would be nice to know what caused
it though.

there is a fix at kellys corner
and I am sure you can find kellys corner somewhere around here!

I did look there - doing a search on lost focus but it didn't get any
matches.

Hi John,

TweakUI/General/Focus

Prevent Programs from Stealing Focus - Undo (Line 66)

When a window that does not have focus is updated by its program, the
default setting prevents it from becoming the foremost (top) window,
instead, it flashes in the taskbar.

HeldUp is the easiest way to stop windows from disappearing behind other
programs. http://www.johnmacintyre.ca/HeldUp.asp

Interesting...

I looked at the key value on my machine (which your script sets) and it was
already set to the required value to prevent this.

So, either this key value was changed by something and a reboot put it back,
or whatever caused it didn't seem to bothered by the value anyway.
