lost files

I was moving a folder to a cd but files were in excess of
cd capacity. I deleleted some temporary files which went
to recycle bin

but now the remaining files are not to be found anywhere?
where did they go? Are they recoverable?

If you used the Windows XP CD burning tool, the files are still
available at their former place. If you send files to a CD with
Windows, the files are copied into a cache, but the original data is
not lost.
