lost files

I do quite a bit of work in Excel. I have run into a
problem with opening excel files from my desktop. I have
to open excel and open the files from there. This is
becoming a huge inconvienence. If anyone could guide me
where to look for what may have changed I would
appreciate it.
 
Try Tools / Options / General / Uncheck 'Ignore Other Applications'
