Lost files after replacing winnt\system32\config\default

This morning a Win2K terminal server was at a memory dump screen with the
following error:
The registry cannot load the hive \systemRoot\System32\Config\DEFAULT or its
log or alternate.

I did some searching and found a post describing a fix for that problem. I
renamed my original default file, copied the default file from winnt\repair,
and rebooted sucessfully. All seems to be fine except 4 large outlook.pst
files are gone without a trace. No sign of them using an undelete utility
either. Any ideas on how to get back the e-mail files for the users?

Thanks in advance.

I'd download and run a disk diagnostic utility from the drive manufacturer's
web site.
