lost file/folder

I plugged in digital cam to download pic, tried to make new folder, and I
believe that I named it. Then I couldn't locate file or pic, through
searching and all pic were erased off digital cam...
did I lose those pic,?

yeh, and as a last resort search for all files
by the exact date of creation or modif.
