Lost Favorites

I have XP and lost my favorites I find the folder, change the registry values to point to that folder then it points to a different folder on start up every time. Any help?
 
I assume you changed in these two keys:

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\Shell
Folders

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\User
Shell Folders

See if there is a similar key in HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE

What is the folder it is changing to? Something that looks normal or
suspicious?
Have you searched the Registry for that folder?
