lost emails

I am using microsoft outlook 2007. My inbox shows messages only from 1st of
October onwards. Yet when I do a search or for example "all unread messages"
the older messages appear. I have not archived the emails as I have only used
the system for 2 months and the archive option is set to archive emails older
then 6 months. Can you please suggest where the emails are and how I can make
sure they remain in my inbox?

You should not use the dynamic inbox folder for storage. Move mail manually
to storage folders or use Rules to move incoming mail automatically. To see
all the items in your overloaded Inbox, change your View settings for that
folder to All Messages. Sounds like it is now set for "this month" or "this
week" only.

In what folder does the search say they reside?
