Just upgraded to Office 2003 from 2000 and foolishly did not back up existing
emails. Is there a way to retrieve the emails I had on my computer with the
2000 version?
I tried a system restore back to a date pre-2003 installation but it failed
stating no changes occurred to restore back to.

System restores do not keep track of program data, only system files.

When you installed Outlook 2003, the installation created a new mail profile
and a new PST. Your old PST is still on disk. All you need to do is add
your old PST to the new mail profile, make it the delivery location, then
remove the new PST. File locations for Outlook can be found here:
http://www.slipstick.com/config/backup.htm . How to backup and restore,
which should give you an idea on how to do this as well, is described here:
http://www.howto-outlook.com/howto/backupandrestore.htm
