Outlook 2000 from 2003

My notebook is running Windows XP - installed TRIAL version of Office 2003
but then decided to go back to Office 2000 Premium after trial expired. My
emails and contacts were imported into 2003 but now when I install 2000,
neither program will work. I did a system restore to get back to pre-2000
(2003 trial). My emails, contacts & calendar have returned but now the
Import/Export button under the file menu is grayed out.
How do I install 2000 and keep my emails (500+), contacts (450+) and
calendar???

there is some information here:

The main thing is that you might have used a Unicode PST with Outlook 2003.
Outlook 2000 can't open it. Solution is to first export to the older PST
format before uninstalling. I'd be tempted to completely remove Office,
delete old directories and then reinstall Office 2000 - ensuring you have
backed up a compatible PST and other data first.
A repair might fix your current problem with Import/Export.

I was thinking that the reason the Import/Export button was grayed out was
the trial version of 2003 had expired. If this turns out to be the case, I'm
gonna be pissed, since my emails and contacts were created prior to using
this trial version. MS should at least tell us that it will be difficult to
go back once '03 is installed.
The link you provided is great. I don't know if I can do a repair/reinstall
since the trial was already loaded on the notebook. I'll let you know what
happens.

the only usual issue with reverting to a previous version is the file format
compatibility if Unicode is used with Outlook 2003.
