Lost Disk

I recently bought a new Compaq notebook that came with XP
on it. I left the box sitting on the living room floor a
bit too long, and the wife threw it away, with all of my
disk that came with it. That includes the windows XP
restore disk. I cannot seem to get through to anyone to
order a replacement. I have heard that it cannot be done.
Is this true? Is the only solution to buy a new copy?

You have to get it from compaq. Look on their parts
surfer, you put in your model and you'll get the
replacement part #. On a laptop you need all the drivers
for it and XP does not have them.
