For some unkown reason I had lost my XP disk. Actually I think I
accidentally threw it away. Is there any thing I can do to get another copy
legally? I am afraid I may have to do the obvious and just spend another
$100 to replace it. I have the folder and key code that came with it
originally. I knew I should have burned a backup copy. Any suggestions
would be greatly appreciated!

If it's a retail copy:

If it's OEM you'll need to contact the vendor you got it from.

That you for the link. I will try to call them in the morning, until then
any other suggestions would be appreciated.

If it was a retail license and you have proof of purchase:

If it was an OEM license, you should contact the computer's
manufacturer.

If you know someone who has a XP disk of the same type as yours, retail
v OEM, Home or Pro, then you can copy their disk. Their is nothing
magical about the disk. It's tied to a certain type of key, not a
specific key, and any key of that type will work with that type of disk.

If you have a genuine keycode, you can copy an XP cd from a friend or at
work, provided it is the same version (Home or Pro) as the one
originally installed on your PC. This CD copy you'll have made will be
like a leggit security copy you *should* have done before losing your
original CD.
