I installed MS Office on a new computer, entered the
wrong newsgroup server, and now cannot find the button
either under the Go menu or in the add buttons section
wehre it was. I reinstalled Office, and still can't find
it. Any ideas on what next?

It would be helpful if you posted your Outlook version.
I shall assume Outlook 2003.
To get the News command back, go back to the Programs tab in Control Panel |
Internet Options and change the default newsreader to Outlook Express. If
OE prompts you to make it your default newsreader the next time you launch
it, clear the "Always perform this check..." box and then click the No
button.

Hey that fixed it for me too.
How about we get Microsoft to post the solution in their knowledgebase
