Suddenly my laptop (XP Tablet PC) has lost all its red colors; everything
shows only in yellow and blue. I haven't installed anything else or changed
any settings recently; it happened last night as I was shutting down. This
problem occurs on both the laptop monitor and the LCD monitor I have attached
to it. How do I fix this, or is it a more serious problem??

Thanks in advance

Try to reinstall the video drivers. Get them from the manufacturers web site.
If that fails, the laptop will need factory service to repair the problem.

Thanks, Unk. Will try that for starters. Appreciate the quick response.

By all means, try re-installing the video drivers first, but this sort
of problem is, however, most likely hardware-related. You haven't been
connecting or disconnecting the external monitor with it's power on,
have you? Were only the external monitor involved, I'd suggest that you
check the monitor's video cable plug for a bent pin. Unfortunately,
with the LCD display also impaired, I have to think that the laptop's
video chip, or related circuitry, has failed.

Be prepared to contact the laptop's manufacturer for warranty support.

It's very likely a hardware problem. Is the laptop still under warranty? If
so, contact your vendor.

Ah!!!!! Thanks so much for the replies! When I looked at it again this
morning, I saw that the problem was only with the external monitor and not
the laptop LCD. So that was good news. Then, Bruce's suggestion about the
bent pin led me to check the connections and actually the lead wasn't plugged
in properly! So now it's fine - phew!! I've never experienced a partially
working monitor before, so didn't even think to check anything so basic
(especially when it looked like the laptop LCD was also the same).

Thanks again,
Kiwichick
