maybe you can try right click
on the start button then select explore.
the file tree that comprises the desktop
start menu will be shown in explorer
fashion.
what you should see is the start
menu folder opened in the explorer.
in it there should be a sub folder called
programs.
if not you can check around and
see if your start menu folder was
moved into another location. if so
you can move it back.
off hand i don't recall of the utility
program that can repair the start menu
since it is a customizable feature of
windows.
if i recall what it is, i will post it for
you. i know a repair install will
likely fix you up, but not sure if
this method is really needed for this.
