Lost ability to search from address bar

I'm running XP Pro. Have run SpyBot and AdAware and machine is clean. I
used to be able to search directly from the address bar in IE. A few days
ago, it suddenly stopped working.

I have checked settings under Tools/Options/Advanced and it is set to search
from address bar and display results in main window but it just won't work.
I get a "The page cannot be displayed" window instead. Help, please.

I would first do a System Restore to a date before the problem started
occurring. If that doesn't help, you might try installing BHODemon 2.0
to get rid of any BHO's (Browser Helper Objects) that may be screwing
around with IE. You can get it here for free:

Yep, the restore did it. I wish I knew for sure what caused it. It might
have been a desktop theme I downloaded. Thanks.
