Loss of workgroup security database

Am I correct in believing that if I lose the admin password for a database,
that is the username/password combination from the workgroup security file
which was assigned admin rights to the database, the database can never be
"unsecured"?

To put it another way, do Domain, Enterprise, or other Domain security
rights allow me to bypass the workgroup securty restrictions if there's a
need to get into the database?

thanks

First, try opening the file with your default MDW. You would be amazed at
how often the files are not really secured properly because someone skipped
a step.

You could also try creating a new database and importing all the objects
from your locked one. Again, this would depend on the file not being
properly secured, but it happens very often.

If that does not work, I think you would have to pay a data recovery
software company to "crack" it for you. There my also be software out there
that you can buy to do the trick.

thanks Rick--it seems extremely odd that Microsoft, with their interest in
all things Enterprise and PKI, wouldn't allow for a Domain rather than
Workgroup security option for Access databases. The lack of a way to
override workgroup security seems the clearest indication of this. I'd also
realized that hiring someone to crack the database would be the only option
if its properly secured. Nice to have confirmation.

I wonder if they're gently trying to suggest that I upsize to SQL Server...
