I have dsl Which means i am always online. Well, i have been "losing" my
connection . This should not happen. I cannot view any websites, aim doesn
ot work. Thiss sometimes happens when i am working online, or if i walk away
for as little as 5 minutes. I have made sure that there is no dial up
connection.

I alos don't use aol as my provider. I acutally use Earthlink, bu tearth
link is not having problems, so i know it is my computer. i esp. know this
because there are 2 other computers using earthlink dsl in my home. I know
it is my computer.
again, any helpis appreciated.

I always have to shut down or restart my compute to get the connection back.
I have tried just reloading the page and just pinging my isp to get it back,
but it does not work. It is a real pain having to shut down all the time.
I use IE and Moxilla Firefox, and the problem happens in both.

Someone suggested this: (but it does not work)
The next time this problem occurs, go to Start, Run, type in without the
quotes "cmd", in the command prompt window that comes up, type in (again
without quotes) "ipconfig /release". When it's done type in without quotes
"ipconfig /renew". closet the command window and open IE and see if the page
loads.

Lots of information but no facts!

You have three computers connected to Earthlink DSL ? How do they connect ?

I had a similar problem with my LAN cable connection. By chance I have seen
that there is an "Energymanagement" panel in the properties of the
"Networkadapter" in the Device Manager where the option "Computer can stop
device in order to save energy" was activated. I immediately deactivated that.
In other words: go to Start/Control Panel/System/Hardware/Devicemanager/
then click the "+" beside the "Networkadapter" rightclick at your
Networkadapter specification, choose "properties" and in the last panel you
should find those Energy management options, which may be useful for
Notebooks, but not for Desktop PCs.

Hope that helps.
