Loss of background color display

I have lost all background colors in Internet Explorer, Microsoft Power
Point, and Windows Media Center. I have a Dell Inspiron E1705 17 in display.
I had it originally when I received the notebook. I remember it happening
when after one of the following changes. I changed up my desktop display -
themes, etc. . . I downloaded Internet Explorer 7 and Yahoo Beta Mail.

Changing a Theme will cause the change or appearance of lost color.
IE7 has been known to run a few machine into the ground.

Check the Desktop tab > Color selector for the background.
Check the Appearance tab > Advanced button > Item dropdown list box.
Change the Item(s) color(s) using the color selector on the right of the item list.
Some Items listed will not have the color selector buttons available.

Thx but I have been through all those tabs. I am not missing standard colors
of backgrounds. I am missing backgrounds such as a MySPace background that
is associated with websites. In addition, I can load a different slide
background in power point but it will not show any color. Also, My Media
Center background on teh home page that was once blue is white (jsut like all
the other backgrounds). All these seem to be similar and all disappeared at
the same time.
Any suggestions?
