Losing printer driver?

My wife and I share an HP 950-series printer/scanner/fax using a manual USB
switch. She runs XP on an HP computer, I run XP Pro on an eMachine. She has
not problem switching the printer back and forth to print, but when I switch
it back to mine, once it's been switched to hers, the printer driver is lost
for all applications... can't print Word, Adobe PDF Reader, Notepad...
anything. I have to reboot my computer with the USB switch in 'my' position
to get the printer back. Any solution?

It would be a lot easier if your two PCs were networked. Do you not have
the option to do this?

Thanks, Cari.... the option, yes; the inclination, no. But what I think I'll
do is install the Windows-default driver for the printer (that came with
Windows, not from HP) into my computer, as this is the driver that works just
fine in my wife's. Thanks anyway, but "simplicity is the soul of wit" or
something like that, and networking invites other troubles, I'm convinced.
