Losing my mind over icon size!

My 6yo was playing a game. When I got on a little bit later, all the folder
icons as well as the browser icons and fonts are huge. I've tried adjusting
the icon size in every way I know, but am about to become bald. Any help
would be verrryy welcome!

The display properties screen area probably got changed to something
like 600 x 800. Try changing it back to a more suitable size for your
screen. Right click on a blank spot on the Desktop and select the
Settings tab.

Oh no! Don't become bald! First thing to check is the screen resolution.

Start
Control Panel
Display
Settings (tab)

Bump the screen resolution higher, that might fix it.

If that doesn't, try the other tab called Appearance.

Hi Frazzled Mom,

My guess is that the game changed the resolution of your screen.
Instead of changing icons, what you want to do is change the
resolution back to the correct resolution. to do this, follow the
below steps;

1) On a blank section of the 'Desktop', right-click.
2) Chose 'Properties'
3) Click on the 'Settings' tab
4) 2/3 down that window you should see a group called 'Screen
resolution'
There is a slider there that you can move to adjust the
resolution. Move it to the correct resolution and click
apply.

Just so that you know, a lot of older games change the resolution to
SVGA (800 x 600) and then forget to change it back when you exit the
game.

Oops.. Right click on a blank spot on the Desktop and select
"Properties" then the "Settings" tab.

Sounds like the game reset the resolution and didn't return it to it's
original setting when the game was closed.

Usually a reboot will work also - unless of course your 6 yo managed to
accidentally find the display tab and randomly changed some settings by
mouse bashing. Wouldn't be hard to do.

Maybe you should consider a user profile for when your children are playing
games, just in case they change some system setting that causes your PC not
to boot.

Yes I too thought about suggesting that. I believe that would be a very
good idea.
