Hello all,

I will attempt to explain my problem. We are using Access 2000 with Windows
2000 pro machines.

There is a access front end database .mdb and a back end database .mdb

Once in a while you can be inputting information in and some of the fields
will default to 0 (zero) and the information will be input wrong. If you
are working through the terminal server in the runtime environment and the
fields go to 0 (zero), the program gives you a runtime error and the program
closes up.

I spoke with the individuals that built the program and they state that it
is an Access problem and they could never find out why it does this. He
stated that he thought that for some reason or another the front end
database becomes disconnected from the back end and the results are the zero
and the program closes.

Does anyone know of how this can be fixed, or why it happens?

Thanks,

Gale

We had that problem a while back. Make sure you have all access 2000 patches
installed on all workstations and on the server.

Since we installed the updates, we only have that problem when the server
crashes.

All the machines are updated with all the available patches. I will try to
update the terminal server. What a problem that is going to be. Will let
you know how it goes!

Thanks

I have several Terminal Server installations using XP, and 2000 Pro machines
and 2000 and 2003 servers. None of them has that problem. The only
disconnects I've ever seen come from bad NIC cards. Make sure you have the
app installed properly.

On the Terminal Server, have a separate folder for each user. Have a copy of
the database front-end in each folder. That way, a single bad card won't
disconnect everyone. The database back-end can run on a different machine,
or on the Terminal Server (I've got installations each way)
