For some time now my initial Internet connection has dropped out within a
few seconds.
The next 2 or 3 subsequent connections also fail within a few minutes, after
which I have an uninterrupted connection for as long as I wish.
My ISP states no problems their end or on the line.
I believe this problem can result from Driver conflicts, but no new Drivers
have been installed for quite some time.
Would appreciate any thoughts on overcoming this problem,

Jim.

It will be helpful if you mentioned the exact error message you get, but try
these steps:

1... First, try to clean up your caches, Internet files and delete cookies
by doing this:
Click Start >> Control Panel >> Double click Network and Internet
Connections >> Double click Internet Options.
On the IE properties windows you will see these Taps:
General | Security | Privacy | Content | Connections | Programs |
Advanced
Under General Tab clear your History, Internet Files and Cookies.
Then click on Advanced tab and scroll down to under the Browsing Option:
[&] Browsing
[ ] Enable Third-Party browser extensions (Req Rest) uncheck this box.
Then click on Programs Tab and click Manage Add-Ons and Disable all non
Verified Add-Ons (You should Renable them later one-by-one and see the
culprit and update it or remove it.

2... And also for malwares from here:
http://www.lavasoft.com/products/ad-aware_se_personal.php
http://www.safer-networking.org ; for Spybot S&D

Then Try this:
Open a Run Command and type in these DLL to reregister and see if that will
help:
regsvr32 Dssenh.dll
regsvr32 Rsaenh.dll
regsvr32 Gpkcsp.dll
regsvr32 Slbcsp.dll
regsvr32 Mssip32.dll
regsvr32 Cryptdlg.dll
regsvr32 Initpki.dll
regsvr32 Sccbase.dll
regsvr32 softpub.dll
regsvr32 Wintrust.dll
regsvr32 mshtml.dll
regsvr32 Jscript.dll
ipconfig /flushdns
ipconfig /renew
netsh winsock reset

Reboot your Machine does the Modem/Router Hold its connection?.

If still no joy, then Turn your Modem/Router OFF for about 40 secs & the
Computer, then Turn the Router/Modem ON for 30 sec then the Computer ON and
try to establish connection, does it help?.
You may have winsock corrupt or damaged so download this winsock fixer:
http://www.nasstec.co.uk/tools.html
Double click it to run it and Reboot your machine and see if you will be
able to access the Internet with Your browser.

Jim.
Happy to advise my Internet connection is working correctly. I ran the
Winsock utility and then entered all the .DLLs, every one of which
succeeded.
This morning, my original connection is still running after 3 hours,
which hasn't happened for quite a while now.
I have used Adaware and Spybot for some years now, and keep them both
up-to-date.

Very many thanks,

Jim.

Glad to help Jim, thanks for taking the time to post your feedback, much
appreciated.
Good luck.
