Lose search results with back button

The past couple of weeks whenever I'm browsing and do a search on a
particular site, I lose my search results after I click one of the results
and then use my back button to get back to the results page. Refreshing the
page doesn't help either.

For example, if I do a search on Amazon, I'll click on the first item in the
results. When I try to go "back", I get the dreaded "This page cannot be
displayed..." message. (For some reason when I refresh on Amazon, I get a
page that says I appear to have a bug in my browser. It also says I'm
running Mozilla/4.0!?! I don't get this on any other site.)

I'm running IE 6.0.2 on XP Home (SP2). I assumed it was my security
settings, but I've played around with them and nothing works. If anybody has
any thoughts please let me know!!!
Thank so much!!

First eliminate any scumware.
What You Should Know About Spyware
http://www.microsoft.com/athome/security/spyware/devioussoftware.mspx

CAUTION!!!!! Before you try to remove spyware using any of these programs ,
download a copy of LSPFIX from any of the following sites:
http://www.cexx.org/lspfix.htm
http://www.spychecker.com/program/winsockxpfix.html
(if your OS is Win2k or XP) The process of removing certain malware may kill
your internet connection. If this should occur, this program, LSPFIX, will
enable you to regain your connection.

Note that AdAware and SpyBot S & D will each catch some things the other
won't. Also, each needs to be updated with the program's update function
before every use, even when just downloaded. There's also a lot more to do
than just those two programs. CWShredder is also available here:
