I committed the ultimate sin and used the lookup wizard.
I am sorry and want to antone - can someone point me to a
web adddress that walks me thru how to set it up properly.

Well, you don't really need much. Just open each Table which has
lookup fields; select each field in turn, and on the Lookup tab of the
field properties change the property to "Text Box" (instead of Combo).

Then open the Relationships window and click the "View All" button. If
there are duplicate table icons (with a _1 extension) they are
probably from the Wizard creating extra redundant relationships;
select the join line to these, click the Delete key, and then delete
the extra table icon.

You'll then be able to build forms as normal; you can use the Toolbox
Combo tool (with the magic wand icon selected) to put "lookups" on
your forms.
