My System Event Log (XP Pro SP1) is giving me a series of Warnings
related to a timeout from the Plug & Play Manager. Specifically, the
EventID I'm getting means: Timed out sending notification of device
interface change to window of "program or service name and/or GUID."
The "program or service name and/or GUID" listed in the Event Log is
"MyTest" which doesn't really help me figure out what process is behind
this Warning -- and the name suggests it might be something that I'd
really rather wasn't running on my PC.
Naturally, by the time I look at the Log and find out that a series of
these timeout warnings occured 5 hours ago, there is no active process
or service called "MyTest." Can anyone suggest an event monitor or
process monitor that I can run in the background and use to attempt to
correlate the times of the event warnings with processes and services
that were running at that time? Also, I don't know how or where to look
for a "GUID" so suggestions on this (or other suggestions for tracking
down the source of these warnings) would be appreciated.
