Long time to open picture folder

I have about 2500 pictures in the My Pictures folder. About 1.6GB worth. It
is taking about 45 seconds to open this folder. Any clue as to why it is
taking so long?

Running a 3.4 P4, with 2GB Dual Channel RAM and 10000RPM Raptor HDD, XP-Pro.
200GB Free HDD Space.

Hi, does changing the folder view options from thumbnail to icon make
any difference? well for that small number of images it still shouldnt
take that long, when you right click on one of the photos do you have
extra options from other software installed, like edit with kodak blah
blah or something?? quite often these programs can add a lot of
processor overhead. i have heard of nero causing this problem too.

Changing from Thumbnail to Icon helped, now takes about 20 seconds to load.
I do not have any extra options or any other programs associated with the
pictures.
