Long time to open Excel

Hello,

I am using XP Pro and Office XP.

For at least a year, Excel has always opened in about 2
seconds when I double clicked the icon to start the
program.

However, just recently it has started to take much
longer. When I open Excel now it takes 15-20 seconds to
open the program.

I had some spyware/adware problems recently. I used
spybot and adaware to solve those issues. My norton is
working great and up to date and I also have used zone
alarm for quite some time. Reboots don't work either.

Why is it now taking so long for Excel (and Word) to open
when they used to open immediately?

What about other applications, or games. Is everything
else sluggidh?

It might be time to defrag as reboots often muck up the
hard drive.
