Long Loading Time

hi, last night i was play on a pc game when all of a
sudden it the computer flashed to a blue screen then
restarted my computer. i couldnt read what it said due to
it flashed on and off very quickly. the only word i saw
was memory. anyway when the computer switched back on and
had finished loading. i dobuled clicked on my 'connect to
internet' box. it took 5 minutes to load and when it
eventually loaded a box appeared saying windows has
recovered from major error, so i looked at the details
and was to do with my nivdia graphics driver and it said
to download the lastest driver which i did. since my
computer hasnt turned off since but now everytime i turn
on my computer and it has finished loading i load an
application it takes 5 minutes to load. i tried with many
different applications as soon it turned on. once it
loads my computer is fine again and everything loads in
good speed but its everytime i load up the computer it
takes the first application 5 minutes to load then it is
fine. i have recently installed sp2 and the game i was
playing was call of duty. im not sure if that makes any
difference but can someone please help me.
