This seems to be a popular topic, but I haven't managed to find an
answer that applies....
I get long delays (10-25 secs) when right-clicking on folders in
Windows Explorer, or clicking the File... menu in Windows Explorer.
I'm running Windows 2000 Pro SP3.
During these delays there is no significant CPU activity (System Idle
Process at 99% and nothing else). There's also no hard disk activity.
I have 17Gb free on my windows drive, which was recently defragged.
I use Symantec Antivirus 2003 - I've tried switching auto-protect off
but this makes no difference. I also run BlackICE PC protection, and
have tried switching off both the firewall and application protection
- also no difference.
Can anyone suggest anything else worth trying? This really is the most
infuriating and productivity-destroying problem!
TIA
