logon to publish problem

Inconsistently, I and another person at different PCs are not able to logon
to our intranet web server to publish updated pages.

We enter in our user logon and password, click OK and the logon window comes
back with the full website location preceding our user logon name.
Example: intranet.xyz.hq\username

Taking out the added text does not help. Clicking on cancel does not help.
We have rebooted our PCs in the past to clear it up and this has worked until
today. Our logons are not locked off of the network in any of this incidents.

My web server admin says it is not an issue with the intranet server. He
sees nothing in logs that he reviews.

Any suggestions?

Hi TAV,

In my experence you need to just type over the supplied domain / user name with the user name.
