Logon to new domain takes several minutes

I have created a new domain for testing purposes. I have
one DC and one client (Windows XP Pro). When I log onto
the domain on the XP machine, it takes 2 or 3 minutes to
Apply personal settings and load the desktop. Logging
onto the machine locally takes a second or two. Any
ideas?

Anything in any event logs?

Is the default profile very large? The first time you log into a domain, a
new profile directory will be created on your machine, and if you have
half-gig default profile, you'll have to wait the time for those files to
copy.
