Logon...Logoff...

Windows XP Home SP3

Interesting situation...never before experienced this. Turned the computer
on this morning, went to logon, and as soon as the computer says it is
logging on, it immediately says logging off and returns to the Welcome screen.

Any ideas?

This also occurs in Safe Mode and even with the Administrator account.

What's happened to the standard practice of backing up your files regularly
to an independent medium? Next time you might not be so lucky, e.g. if your
disk bites the dust.
