Logon Failure

Michael Hobbs

I have one PC running Windows XP and another running XP
Home. The XP Pro system also acts as an Internet Sharing
Server.

I am able from the XP Home system to connect to the
Internet so I know the network is okay. I can also from
the XP Pro system look at files on the XP Home system.

However when I try from the XP Home system to look at
files on the XP Pro system I get the following message.

Logon: Failure: the user has not been granted the
requested logon type at this computer.

I have looked at the TechNet and the help there is not
good. I have also setup many peer to peer networks and
never come across this error before.

Can any one help.

Thanks, Mike Hobbs

Hi, Mike -

Does the XP Home user have a user account on the XP
Professional machine?

i have the very same problem, but with two XP PRO pcs. I am a network and pc
engineer with lots of experience but i cant get to the bottom of this
problem, and its the second such case in about four weeks (on site) user
accounts are correct on both machine, and all permissions are correct, and
both users eve have admin rights, but one machine can see the others shares,
but not the other way around. on the first occasion, i ended up reloading
both machines, i hope that i dont have to do it again
