New user ng continues to have a sever problem,
so I'm adding the post here.

At startup a screen appears
" administrator " and asks for a password.

I wish startup to go to the desktop without having
to enter a password or see this screen.

User Accounts shows
" administrator " computer administrator
password protected. and
" guest " guest account is on.

Appreciate direction as to how !

1. Go to Start/Run and type in: control userpasswords2 and press ok.

2. On the Users tab, clear the Users Must Enter A User Name And Password To
Use This Computer check box and then click OK.

3. In the Automatically Log On dialog box that appears, type the user name
and password for the account you want to be logged on each time you start
your computer.

or use tweakuiXP (free download from MS powertoys site). But for heavens
sake, set up =another= Admin User ID and auto-login as that one. If you
trash 'Administrator' itself, it leaves you with no fallback position at
all.

Hi,
Misapplied directions and could not access the OS, being
blocked by a password request I was unable to supply.
Finally had to format the hd, reinstall winxp and the applications.
What a job. I think MS's login process is faulty and difficult.
Many thanks for your help.
