A. J.

I have a small network of about 40 people with AC and W2K
server SP4.

My boss wants reports about when people log in and out.
Kinda to keep track of how much time people are spending
on the PCs. He also wants to log them out if 10 minutes of
inactivity.

I just turn on and off PCs around here so if you could
point me in the right direction I would appreciate it.

Thanks

A.J.

If the users logon to just the domain and not the local computer, you can
enable auditing of "logon events" on the domain controller and view the
security log in Event Viewer being sure to make the size of the log quite a
bit bigger than default, probably at least 10MB. If they also logon to a
local computer, you will have to enable the same on all those computers. The
security log will have a LOT of events in it so you may want o use the
"filter" view to narrow down the search or use Event Comb, especially if you
have to view the logs in multiple computers. Unforunealty there is not built
in way to produce a nice neat report, though there are third party tools
that can do a better job. The links below may be helpful. good luck. --
