I have a login script that creates desktop, start menu,
and startup icons. On first login the icons are not
created. If I log off then back on, they come up? Slow
link detection is enabled and set to 0 (zero) on the
computer and user side.

any ideas why the icons do no get created initially?

What type of clients are you using? If the client is XP then you may be
experiencing the behavior of Fast logon optimization. Take a look at 305293

I am having a similar problem...

Login script is applied as a group policy at the domain
level. It has been working great for 2 years, then
recently stopped working. Unfortunately I do not know
when it failed so I cannot link it to a SP or patch. I
just know that the logon process is being totally ignored.

Server = Windows 2000 Active Directory, SP4
Most workstations are Windows 2000 Pro, some are XP Pro

Thanks!
