After installing .NET which is required for DriveImage, I no longer am
logged in automatically when I start my PC. I used tweakui to automatically
log me in but after a subsequent reboot (or after the screen saver is
activated) that option becomes disabled. I also cheked to see if there were
any clearly defined services I could disable, but didn't see anything that
explicitly seemed .NET related for a single user PC. As the only user on
this PC I' rather not have that unnecessary step, do I have any options? I
searched the MS KB but didn't find anything there...

Thanks,

David...

You don't mention which OS you are using but I would try the following if XP:

HOW TO: Automatically Log On a User Account in Windows XP

How to Enable Automatic Logon in Windows

Hi Paul,

You are correct, it is XP (Pro). I should've mentioned that up front...
The second link is what fixed the problem.

I am curious as to why installing .NET effected my log-in all of a sudden,
especially seeing as how I am the only user of this PC. I assume it's due
to the new user account (ASP.NET Machine A...'s) that was created?? And is
having an ASP.NET account necessary in order to have .NET *services* on the
PC?

Thanks,

David...

Apparently it is related but I'm not sure what the explanation is behind this behavior.

I suppose you could disable the ASPNET account if you're not running the web server (IIS). I
wouldn't delete it. I think DriveImage just uses the .NET framework libraries, but the best way to
find out would be to stop the web service (Control Panel...Administrative Tools...Services...IIS
Admin Service).
