Morning

I have just installed XP and I tried to logon, it has
asked for a password, but I never gave a password during
setup?

How do i get in? I need to get in to start working.

Carmen

Hi!
Firstly start by opening your run box and enter control userpasswords2
When the user accounts window opens uncheck the box which states 'Users
must enter a username and password to use this computer' and apply the
setting. You will be requested for the username and password of the
account you wish to automatically logon on following reboots of your
system. If at a later stage you want a password back on your system,
follow the same steps but recheck the box. In order to open user
accounts you must be using an Administrator level account.

Of course this only works if you can log on in the first place! What
the original poster should do is try leaving the password blank. If
that doesn't work, he can restart in Safe Mode, log in to the
Administrator account (again the password should be left blank). If
that works, he can reset the password for his user account, or make the
change you suggested below.

Press Ctrl+Alt+Del twice and then enter Administrator for
the User Name and Leave the Password Blank. Then Try and
Login. If this works you can change the password on the
account having the Problem.
Good Luck,
Steve

Hey Carmen

You most likely did not create a password to start with, so
leave the password blank and press the enter key. That
should get you in.

Best of luck---F Miller
