login in to a windows domain server

Many times when a user login to a w2003 domain cmputer they dont get the
mapped drive setup on the domain's user profile and in order to get to that
drive they have to login with a different name than the authenticated domain
user login.

Any ideas? Thanks,

-You don't say how the drive is mapped, but I'd advise using either a
logon-script or domain policy to establish it.

Creating persistent shares in profiles is not very reliable, plus it's a
security-issue as the stored password is easily harvested.

Make sure they are logging onto the Domain and not their local computer user
account (if any). One classic case of being prompted for a userID/Password
while mapping a drive is when you are not logged onto your Domain account.

To echo the other reply - are you using a login script? You should be - you
want everything consistent between users. The script should probably delete
any remembered connections and then re-map them.

Hi there, the problem is that they log into the domain. We're on a DSL
system for internet. Could it be the DNS config. Do I set stations with
DNS=server IP? If so where do I configure the DNS address for DSL?

thanks

For DNS in a domain, the server only looks to itself for DNS with
forward and reverse lookups set. All workstations only look to the
server for DNS.
