Hello,
When I set up windows 2k there is an option where Windows assumes a
particular user is always going to use the machine. When the machine boots
up, the user is signed in automatically. Is there a way to set that up for
a user on a domain? through group policy or whatever?

Yes, that is called AutoAdminLogon. However, it is very, very insecure,
since it stores the password in clear text. You will need to create a custom
ADM template to handle that, but there are only two Registry values that
need to be altered.

Derek,
Thanks for that.
I am not real concerned about security with this method. I have used
Group Policy to lock down the login I want to use pretty tightly. It's a
simple department machine that people in the mailroom are using to process
mail with. It doesn't even have a password protected screensaver and I have
removed everything from the start menu (even log off and/or shut down). The
problem I am trying to solve is that sometimes the computer gets turned off
and no one knows the password for that login except me, so the mailroom
waits till I come in.

By the way, would you happen to know where in the GPO I can set this and/or
the registry entries?
thanks,
