Recently began having trouble with my XP home computer.
First, I can only connect to the internet after rebooting
my computer. If I connected in the morning and tried again
after work I would get error stating "site not available".
I would have to reboot in order to log on, (dialup
PeoplPC).

Now I am having difficulty logging on after a reboot.
Cannot get past welcome screen. Initially I got an error
stating "virtual memory low." most recently I got the
message that "this version of XP has to be activated."

Note: I have Macafee viruscan and firewall and check my
computer frequently. Could a trojan have slipped in or
could it be a conflicting driver from Macafee? HELP!!

I have heard that the McAfee Firewall tends to interfere with connections.
To test that theory,
1. BEFORE you try to connect, disable the McAfee Firewall [turn it off].
2. Open Control Panel/Network Connections/right click your connection
icon/in the Drop Down Menu, scroll down and click "Properties"/in the
Properties Window, click the "Advanced" Tab/checkmark the Box by the
sentence which reads "Protect my computer and network, etc, etc,". This will
turn on the Windows XP Firewall.
3. Try to connect. Let us know what happens.
