Login Accounts gone at start up XPHome SP1

My login account names have disappeared at start up. With
control + alt + delete the logins do not work.

I have Norton Internet security and anti virus. There was
no indication of any problem until I shut down and later
found that there is no way to login and start Windows.

What can I do?

So, Greg, what you're saying is that now when you boot your PC, and press
CTRL+ALT+DEL, type in a valid username and password combination, that you
cannot log in to your ocmputer ???

Or, is there some sort of other issue that is happening ???

I am unable to boot into Windows because the valid
username and password combinations to not work. Also the
buttons to login by user have disappeared.

Have you tried to logon as Administrator in Safe Mode?

Yes and it will not work. The accounts just do not seem to
exist anymore.
