logical partitions

I'm looking to upgrade to XP Pro from 2000 Pro. I've partitioned my drive
and created a logical drive. When I upgrade to XP Pro will this partition be
intact? If not what happens to the data that existed there?

If you mean you've got a second partition for your data, it will fine as
long as you install XP to the correct partition! After the install the
second partition will be the same as it is now.

Back up your data any way. This is just common sense because with
computers, Stuff Happens.

You are upgrading 2000 pro on your C: drive. All other partitions, primary
and logical remain untouched. If they didn't you wouldn't be able to install
two or more operating systems without creating new partitions when
installing.

I have three operating systems on one of my hard drives, along with a backup
partition which i created seperately. Installing any of the three operating
systems doesn't affect the other partitions.

So your saying during the upgrade all partitions are identified and I must
chose the proper partition for the OS?

Yes. During the early part of the installation you will be shown all the
partitions on the drive and you can choose the one where you want to
install XP.
