You need to distinguish between "disk" and "drive".
A "disk" is the physical thing, something you buy,
something you can touch. You can see it in Disk Management.
A "drive" is an area on a disk. A disk can be partitioned into
just one big area, or into many. These partitions are then
called drives. Hence your physical disk can have drive C:,
drive D: and drive E:. Some of them may be called "logical
drives", depending on the exact configuration. Here is
the configuration of my own PC:
drive c: - a partition on the first disk
drive d: - a further partition on the first disk
drive e: - CD
drive f: - a partition on the second disk
