Logical Disk Mgr become unstable

I am running Win @K, SP4. When I try to use Computer
management to format a HDD partition, I get an error;

"An internal error has occurred. The Logical Disk Manager
may have become unstable. Please close the Disk
Management snapin window and restart the Logical Disk
managerservice or reboot the machine."

I am unable to format any of the available space or
partitions.
Also running Norton SystemWorks. After installing SP4,
ran speeddisk & got error "don't support SP4." Contacted
Norton, they said no conflicts, should work fine. Ran it
and now this. Any ideas?
