A few months ago, I purchased a laptop with windows 2000
professional from a fellow student. At first, I logged
in as a guest, but it quickly forced me to get a user
name and password. I did so, but it has been months
since I last was on the laptop, and I have forgotten both
the user name and password. Is there any way to override
the log on screen so that i can add a new user name and
password?
Thanks in advance for any assistance you can provide!

There's no supported method of obtaining lost passwords. You would need to
log in with an account with Administrator credentials to create a new user.

No If I were you Providing you have a windows 2000 CD is
to Reformat your drive , Make sure all your work is Backed
up and do a Clean install and use Fat32 were as you wont
have to go through all that Adminastrater stuff with
Passwords Etc. Etc. or if you wish you can do a clean
install and use NTFS File system
hope this helps Robert.
